The Lava Wall Camp is a primitive boat-in/boat-out site, located on Catalina Island’s Northern shore. It’s a fantastic place for overnight camping, and also happens to be a great location –– perhaps the perfect location –– for shooting long exposure nighttime images.
This photo, taken while working on a project with Bayliner Boats, is the very definition of a long exposure nighttime image, and makes use of a stopped down lens, a rock-solid tripod, perfect lighting conditions, rolling waves (which ended up looking like fog), and a shutter speed of 30 seconds.
